Day 30
May 20, 2025
Thirty days in. Pretty much sure this is the longest study streak I’ve ever had with my Japanese, outside of a very passive albeit long bit of experience with WaniKani and DuoLingo. Pretty proud of myself for having made it this far. Today, as always was a busy day, and I was out of the house for a late morning meeting that took me away from the office for most of the day. Being outside always takes a lot out of me in the warm weather, and with meetings, doubly so. I had in me what you see on my notes… not a lot to take in, but it took a long time to put together; thirty minutes to look up vocabulary and write three sentences seems like a lot of time. It is. It’s also the sort of reality my ESL students had to endure as well in the beginning of their adventures with me as their teacher. It is arduous. As my Japanese language mentor, Andy Foord, put it to me yesterday morning… “Learning Japanese is impossible without pain.”
Tomorrow, I continue onward, and the next day and the next. A new me is here. One that gets better and better with Japanese each and every day. I will keep you posted along the way.
Cheers,
D
