Day 23
May 13, 2025
Ran through a vocabulary experiment tonight; wanted to test my listening skills and see how well my recall on the hiragana I had practiced held up. Not bad. As you can see from my notes, I got seven incorrect, but my mistakes were almost entirely listening related. As far as the hiragana went, I couldn’t remember み to save my life, and being unsure え meant it was more than sloppy. Otherwise, I was pretty much on point. Not bad for going through each letter in the syllabary only once (albeit 19 times for each row). I’ll take it. Andy should be happy!
When I was a kid, I had a pretty good memory for English vocab, and I think part of the reason for that was frequent testing. This was my attempt at that. We’ll see if it helps me speed through the Anki deck, and work through the second paragraph with more speed when reading.
The other photo in this section is of the Airtable we created for our learners of every word in the story. I believe I’ve mentioned it previously. I hid the columns I didn’t wish to see (I can’t realy read the kanji for these words yet, and can’t hide that row anyway)… it’s a nice feature for drilling.
See ya tomorrow. Rounding the corner on a full month of every day Japanese practice. What could you do with a Japanese tutor like Andy? With our self-paced Japanese program and a tutor, or our Maplopo @8 program which let’s you work on the 常用漢字 under Andy’s guidance, you’ll accomplish more than you thought possible… just like me.
Cheers,
Doc
