Day 13

May 3, 2025

At the behest of Sir Andy of Bromley, I took three steps back to, hopefully, jump a few more ahead in the days and months ahead. So, today: hiragana.

I have barely enough tolerance to write things out like this without my brain prompting me to do something more “productive,” and yet I did it anyway.

This apprehension to write neatly, and work on penmanship, is hardly a new aversion of mine. I hated the task as a kid in Catholic school (the nuns really rode my about it), and people often ask me if I got my name because of my handwriting. I most certainly write like a doctor; my handwriting is a mix of cursive and print and legible to only a few. I am fast, and creative with my writing… very loopy and bendy… creative people dig it others have no idea what I’ve written most times. Thus, the kana and kanji are formidable obstacles.

If nothing, while my hiragana is far from perfect, it IS placing the letters in my brain. And, that is good.

Cheers for today,
D
